Manteno To Honor Citizens Of The Year Award
On April 22nd Manteno will honor two local couples with the Citizens of the Year Award. This will mark the 24th year that the Manteno Historical Society has honored special Manteno residents with this award. There will be a luncheon at the Manteno Golf Course. Tickets to this event cost $35 but you have to buy them within the next couple of days. If you would like to attend you can call Jeff Jarvis at 815-933-2055 to purchase your tickets. There will be a special speaker at this year’s event. The guest speaker is Michael Kleen. Mr. Kleen is the author of two books, one of which is specifically about the Manteno State Hospital (Mysterious Manteno State Hospital & Paranormal Illinois). The awards will go to:
- Tricia Dotson & Adam Dotson
- Annette Lamore & Rondy Lamore
They will also be awarding a new award this year. The Lucille Thies Personal Achievement Award will be given to Ann Piepenbrink. Ann is blind but she has not let that stop her from being an inspiration to the residents of Manteno.
Each of these award recipients has worked hard to improve our community. The staff at Manteno.org would like to thank each of them, the Manteno Historical Society and everyone else who has devoted their time and effort into this community.
